Full Roof Coating in Chester

roof coating chester

We recently completed work on a small project in a retail park in Saltney, near Chester. The work involved re-coating a 600m2 section of a corrugated steel roof. Scaffolding was erected at the roof edges for safety regulations compliance. With reinforced rooflight sheeting installed there was no requirement to section off the skylights.

Preparation

With the scaffolding in place, our skilled roof coating technicians wasted no time in getting the roof ready for coating. They meticulously cleaned the roof sheets using powerful jet-wash equipment at an impressive 9000 psi, removing any old paint that was peeling off to reveal the bare substrate underneath.

For stubborn areas, a wire brush was employed to ensure a thorough job. Every bolt fixing and side lap was carefully stripped back to the metal, leaving no detail overlooked. Our team’s attention to detail and dedication ensured that the roof was perfectly prepped for the coating process.

Adhesion testing

After meticulously removing all loose and deteriorated paint material and thoroughly cleansing the designated coating area, our team conducted an adhesion test, as per the prescribed guidelines outlined by HD Sharman. The results of the test demonstrated successful adhesion, affirming the readiness to initiate the coating process.

Delcote 10 Coating Application

Getting started by applying Sherman’s Barrier Primer we made good progress. Making sure to seal all the seams and joints with Seamsil sealant to protect against water leaks was a high priority. Next, we applied the basecoat and let it cure before adding the final ‘Albatros Grey’ topcoat. Our team used Delcote 10, a high performance coating system that comes with a 10-year guarantee when installed by approved roof coating contractors like us. Trust us to deliver a high-quality finish that will last for years to come.
