Energy saving advances for businesses are all thanks to a reflective roof coating with hidden materials that bounce sunlight back off the surface of the roof
Its a hot topic right now, no pun intended, businesses are constantly looking at new ways to save energy. Industrial roof tops that absorb heat, particularly in warmer climates such as the USA, do so at a cost. This is a problem because energy is then consumed to cool the building down on the inside.
New advances in industrial roof coatings are improving things all the time. Coatings that contain special materials simply deflect the heat back up from the sun. The building inside stays cooler and less energy is consumed trying to keep the inside at a lower temperature.
This saves businesses quite a lot of money. Air-conditioning systems consume vast amounts of electricity and that’s not cheap these days. With the cost of oil gradually going back up again its only a matter of time before increases in electricity costs will follow.
Tests carried out by experts around the world have discovered that white roofs reflect 88% of the energy from the sun. Roof structures with mid-tone coatings reflect around 60%. However darker coloured roof coatings reflect only 25% of the sun’s energy, quite alarming we would say.
Temperatures on the inside of buildings with white coatings are reduced by approximately 2°C. This equates to between 5% and 30% savings in energy consumption annually for business.
So we will let you do the maths on how much you could potentially save in energy costs for your business each year by using energy efficient roof coatings. If you would like to speak to us about your roof coating requirements please call 01606 554040 or visit our contact page and fill out the form.
