We recently completed yet another successful project for one of our clients in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. The project was to carry out, in summary, roof coating and redecoration of the exterior wall elevations.

Old Mill Lane Business Park is situated in the north east Mansfield district of Mansfield Woodhouse. Mansfield itself is located in the western side of Nottinghamshire, which is a large county in the north of England. Its close to the Peak District National Park which means it gets a fair share of rain. As we know rain and steel structures don’t go well together in the wrong conditions.

We started work on the project in October 2014 and were fortunate with the weather overall. We sent a large team of our specialists, relative to the project size, to carry out the work. At least 3 of our vehicles were present on site at all phases of the project.

Having such a large number of staff, with a wealth of experience, enables us to rise to any challenge and remain competitive. In addition to our full time staff members, we also have a good network of reliable subcontractors we can bring in. Primarily these are scaffolding contractors and on this project we were assisted by our roofing specialist.

The Project Brief

We were tasked with the job of carrying out roof remedial works, which included repair, roof coating, cut edge treatment, rooflight repair and coating. Each block was colour coded, which was no longer desired, so we standardised the colour scheme of all four individual blocks. For example, block 15 was colour coded red, green for block 16, blue for block 17 and yellow for block 18.

A variety of businesses are tenants at the complex, including a caravan company, car dealership, glazing company and plumbing supplies. Disruption had to be kept to a minimum and we are happy to say we had no complaints!

Roof Coating

Each of the 4 roof structures were treated to a full clean down to completely remove all dirt and rust. Repairs were then carried out where necessary before we began applying our cut edge corrosion treatment to each steel roof sheet. All gutter linings were cleaning, treated and re-coated to keep the buildings protected for many years to come.

Wall Elevation Redecoration

There was also much work to be done in the wall sections of each block. We had to repair cladding, window frames and apply a uniform coating to all walls including trims, frames, downpipes and security grills. The new colour scheme, a dark charcoal grey which contrasted the Merlin Grey wall cladding colour, worked really well overall. We are proud to say the whole complex looked very smart with its enhanced new appearance.
